CLASS OF 2017
Whitehaven High School (Memphis, Tenn.) and standout linebacker Aubrey Miller improved to 13-0 on the season with a 35-14 win against Frankin (Tenn.) High School in the quarterfinals of the Tennessee Division I Class 6A playoffs on Friday.
Miller had 10 tackles in the win.
Whitehaven advances to host Cordova (Tenn.) High School (12-1) in the state semifinals on Friday. Whitehaven defeated Cordova 21-6 on Oct. 28.
Wide receiver Jafar Armstrong and his Bishop Miege (Shawnee Mission, Kan.) High School squad kept rolling with a 52-0 win over Basehor-Linwood (Basehor, Kan.) High School in a Kansas Class 4A sub-state round playoff game on Friday.
Armstrong had two catches for 38 yards and a touchdown and also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
For the season, Armstrong has now has 46 catches for 1,055 yards and 18 touchdowns and has two rushing touchdowns and two kickoff return TDs.
Bishop Miege (11-1), seeking to win its third straight state championship, will play Buhler (Kan.) High School (11-1) in the Kansas 4A DI title game on Saturday.
One week after quarterback Reyondous Estes and his East St. Louis (Ill.) High School squad matched their season high for points the Flyers matched their season low for points in a 20-0 win over Benet Academy (Lisle, Ill.) in an Illinois Class 7A semifinal playoff game on Saturday.
Estes completed six of 11 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown.
East St. Louis (13-0) advances to face Plainfield (Il.) North High School (11-2) in the Illinois Class 7A championship game on Saturday at the University of Illinois University.
Offensive lineman Hyrin White and his DeSoto (Texas) High School squad advanced in the Texas 6A D2 playoffs with a 48-30 win against Southlake (Texas) Carroll High School in a second-round playoff game on Friday.
DeSoto (12-0) gained 587 yards of offense (328 rushing, 259 passing) in the victory. The Eagles will play Abilene (Texas) High School (11-1) in a third-round game on Friday.
Carrollton (Ga.) High School and center Case Cook kept rolling with a 41-14 win over Thomas County Central (Thomasville, Ga.) in the Georgia AAAAA Round 2 playoffs on Friday night.
Carrollton’s offense racked up 354 total yards (188 passing, 166 rushing) in the win, improving to 11-1 on the season with their seventh straight victory.
Carrollton will now play Buford (Ga.) High School (11-1) in quarterfinals on Friday.
Ben Davis (Indianapolis, Ind.) High School saw its season come to an end with a 42-22 loss to visiting Center Grove (Greenwood, Ind.) High School in the Indiana Class 6A playoff semi-state championship round on Friday.
Offensive lineman Pompey Coleman is out for the season after suffering a broken leg in the second game. Ben Davis finished the season at 9-4.
Middle linebacker Jamal Brooks and his Bessemer (Ala.) City High School squad saw their season end with a 52-26 loss to Park Crossing (Montgomery, Ala.) High School in an Alabama Class 6A second-round playoff game on Nov. 11.
Bessemer City finished the season at 7-5.
Defensive end Chris Turner and his Hammond (La.) High School squad went 1-9 this season.
Defensive back Joshuah Bledsoe and his Dekaney (Houston, Texas) High School squad saw their season come to an end with a 35-0 loss at Klein Collins High School (Spring, Texas) in the Texas 6A D2 playoffs on Nov. 11.
Dekaney finished 5-6 on the season.
Wide receiver Roderick Ford and his Southwest High School (Fort Worth, Texas) squad saw their season end with a 70-0 5A D2 first-round playoff loss at Grapevine (Texas) High School on Nov. 11.
Southwest finished the season at 6-5.
Tight end Logan Christopherson's Lemont (Ill.) Township High School squad saw their season come to an end with a 27-20 loss to Burbank (Saint Laurence) High School in an Illinois Class 6A quarterfinal game on Nov. 12.
Christopherson suffered a shoulder injury and missed most of the season.
Offensive lineman Larry Borom and his Brother Rice (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) squad had their four-game win streak snapped with a 24-0 loss at Groves High School (Beverly Hills, Mich.) in a Michigan Division 2 district finals playoff game on Friday, Nov. 4.
Brother Rice concluded its season at 7-4.
Wide receiver Da'Ron Davis and Lee’s Summit (Mo.) North squad finished the season with a 2-8 record.
In eight games, Davis racked up 56 receptions for 703 yards and five touchdowns and also had a kickoff return touchdown.
CLASS OF 2018
Junior defensive lineman Josh Smith and his Landry-Walker High School (New Orleans, La.) squad ran their winning streak to 10 straight games with a 50-28 win against visiting Sulphur (La.) High School in the Louisiana Class 5A second-round playoff game on Thursday.
Landry-Walker (10-2) will play Parkway (Bossier City, La.) High School (12-1) in the quarterfinal round on Friday.
