Missouri's Johnathon Johnson, Dimetrios Mason and Ronnell Perkins were selected to the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team, as voted on by the league’s coaches, which was announced on Thursday afternoon.
Johnson was selected at two positions — all purpose and return specialist — while Mason was honored at wide receiver and Perkins at defensive back.
Johnson, a redshirt freshman from Memphis, caught 24 passes for 435 yards and two touchdowns, ran for 115 yards on four carries and averaged 14 yards per punt return, including one touchdown. He ranked third on the Tigers in receptions and receiving yards, trailing J’Mon Moore and Mason, and his three scores were tied for fourth in total touchdowns.
Mason, a true freshman from Loganville, Ga., was Missouri’s second-best wide receiver with 47 catches for 587 yards and three touchdowns. He set school records for true freshmen with his receptions and receiving yardage.
Perkins, a redshirt freshman from St. Louis, racked up 43 tackles, including 3.5 for loss, three pass break-ups and a quarterback hurry. He recorded 18 tackles in the final two games, including a career-high 10 against Arkansas.
Missouri’s four selections on the All-Freshman Team were the most by any school. Two schools, LSU and Ole Miss, had three selections.
Johnson, Mason and Perkins join cornerback Aarion Penton and defensive end Charles Harris in receiving honors from the SEC. Penton was a first-team All-SEC selection by the league’s coaches and Harris was second team.
