Five questions with Josh Hibbetts

On Saturday, Josh Hibbetts went from nobody to somebody in two plays. They just happened to be two blocked punts, one he returned for a touchdown. Hibbetts, a free safety that came to Missouri as a quarterback, sat down for five questions with Inside Mizzou.

1) How hard was it for coach Pinkel to convince you to move from quarterback?

HIBBETS: It really wasn't a big thing at all. He really came in one day and told me, "We think you can produce on defense." I went in with the state of mind doing whatever was best for the team.

2) How long did it take for you to realize you can produce on defense?

HIBBETTS: Whenever he said I could produce on defense, I said, "Well, great. Let's do something about it and give me a chance to compete."

3)What did you notice with Eastern Illinois' punt formations that you could past?

HIBBETTS: On the first one, I kind of noticed that the time before, the penalty play, I came off the line and he kind of didn't seem to block me much. He just kind of pushed me. So I said I'm gonna hit you and see if I can push you back. It worked.

4) Were there times this summer that you got discouraged?

HIBBETTS: Yeah, there were times when I felt bad. Those are past, and it's time to move forward.

5) Is what you did Saturday enough to convince you that this is where you should be?

HIBBETTS: Yeah, there's little things you don't know about until it happens that tells you this is where you're supposed to be, and I think I'm fortunate to be where I am right now.
