Former Tigers sign free agent contracts

After NFL teams passed on them in the draft, find out where several former Missouri players are heading.

As expected, NFL teams passed on all eligible Missouri players this past weekend in the NFL Draft. But shortly after the draft finished Sunday, the Tigers starting working on rookie free agent contracts.

Offensive tackle Rob Droege was the Tigers' highest-rated prospect, and he finished a deal Sunday night with the Chicago Bears. Droege will meet up with former Missouri wide receiver Justin Gage, who went to the Bears in the third round last season. Linebacker Brandon Barnes, who had his best season in 2003 after moving from safety, signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

Cornerback Michael Harden signed with the Seattle Seahawks, and center A.J. Ricker and running back Zack Abron are supposedly still weighing their options. Russ Bell has been invited to a two-day tryout with the Kansas City Chiefs. Although he was only a backup for most of last season, Bell had been working out since the season ended to earn his way into the NFL.
