Gage garners pre-season recognition

Missouri's version of Superman, Justin Gage, capped off last season by being voted to the all-conference first team. He then jumped right into a key sixth man role for Quin Snyder's basketball Tigers. Now, "12 Gage" is poised to break a couple of school career receiving records and provide key senior leadership to a young talented Tiger team in 2002.

The Big 12 Conference announced the 2002 Preseason Media All-Big 12 teams on Monday morning. The media voted Missouri senior wide receiver Justin Gage as a first team All-Big 12 selection.

The Jefferson City, Mo. native was tabbed first team All-Big 12 in 2001 after pulling in 74 receptions for 920 yards and five touchdowns. Gage finished the season ranked 13th in the country with 6.8 receptions per game.

Gage enters the 2002 campaign ranked fourth all-time at Missouri in receptions (118) and receiving yards (1,629). He could become the all-time leader in both categories this season.
