Williams surprised by Missouri Offer

K.J. Williams admittedly was a bit surprised when his most recent scholarship offer – from the University of Missouri – arrived Friday morning.

"There was a lot of talk early on about them offering me, but we started to lose touch for a little while, so it kind of hit me by surprise,' said Williams a 6-foot-5, 235-pound defensive end who also has offers from Texas Tech, Iowa State, Kansas State, Texas A&M and Tulsa.

"One of my favorite players in college football is Chase Daniel," said Williams, who posted 66 tackles and four sacks last year at Norman (Ok.) High School. "But other than that, I don't know a lot about them."

Williams, who is being recruited as a tight end by Texas A&M, New Mexico and Tulas is being looked at my MU as a defensive end. He brings very good speed off of the edge as a pass rusher and has a frame that will lend itself to weight gain. He impressed at a recent combine and has seen his stock rise this spring/summer.

"Last year, it was more about making plays. This year, I'm much more physical. But I'm still able to run with the little guys, the speed guys," he said.

Williams has no favorite school and plans to take as many visits as possible this summer. He said a trip to Mizzou "is a strong possibility."
