Juco Forward Planning Mizzou Visit

Junior college prospect Keith Ramsey has a unique relationship with Mizzou head coach Mike Anderson. Anderson has been recruiting Ramsey, a 6-foot- forward from Okaloosa-Walton (Fla.) Juco for what seems like forever -- since he was in high school three years ago.

Since then, Anderson has relocated from Alabama-Birmingham, and Ramsey has relocated from hometown Murfreesboro, Tenn. to Florida, where he plays junior college basketball.

It seems a good fit, then, that Mizzou remains in the running for the soon-to-be eligible Ramsey. Among the other interested schools are Mississippi State, Arkansas, and hometown team Middle Tennessee State, all of whom Ramsey said have offered him a scholarship.

Ramsey, who averaged 11 points and seven rebounds last year as a freshman, will spend the summer practicing his game. He plans to work on "dribbling and shooting," and will use his free time "playing around town, getting in games."

He has yet to officially visit Missouri's campus in Columbia, though he does have visits planned to all four schools in August and September.

As for playing his college ball for Mizzou, Ramsey said, "I'd like it, really. I know Coach Anderson, he recruited me in high school when he was at UAB. I like he style he plays."

Ramsey remains unsure when he will make a decision, although it will be no sooner than August, when the hoopster is set to make his on-campus visits. "I don't know," he said. "I might sign later on, like next April. But, if everything goes good on my visits, I might sign early."

Ramsey and his juco coach talk a lot about recruitment, but Ramsey said that his coach does not try to sway his opinion of one school over another.

"He just wants me to go the biggest I can go," he said.

His favorite schools right now remain the four that have expressed a great deal of interest. Though he does not name a leader, it is clear that his long-term relationship with Coach Mike Anderson could be a valuable advantage for the Tigers.
