Tigers Add Another Hoops Player
Delaware transfer Zaire Taylor is on campus and enrolled, and has joined the MU program, Inside Mizzou has learned.
Taylor, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard from Staten Island, N.Y., will take the scholarship vacated this spring when junior guard Glen Dandridge elected to leave the program.
Taylor will have to sit out the upcoming season per NCAA rules, and will have two years of eligibility remaining there after. He's a pure point guard who adds experience and versatility to an MU backcourt that is beginning to take shape with the other additions of Marcus Denmon and Miguel Paul.
He shot 45.9 percent and averaged 10.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals in 14 games last season while playing shooting guard. In his natural role at the point guard, though, he averaged 3.7 assists as a freshman and was named to the Colonial Athletic Association all-rookie team.
"He has the ability to handle the ball and get the ball where it's supposed to be, he can handle and deliver it, and he's very unselfish," Charis Prep coach Carlos Peralta told Inside Mizzou earlier this summer. "He's a pure point guard."
Mizzou is expected to make an official announcement shortly. Stay tuned to InsideMizzou.com for more on Taylor...
