Top Juco Forward Enjoys Mizzou Visit
Keith Ramsey, a 6-foot-8 sophomore forward from Okaloosa-Walton (Fla.) Junior College and likely the top prospect remaining on Mizzou's basketball recruiting board, was in town this weekend for an official visit. Ramsey used his visit as a chance to take in a practice session, check out the town and the academic buildings and hang out with some potential future teammates. Here's how it went:
"I went good," said Ramsey, who is rated the No. 1 junior college power forward in the nation. "I think highly of them."
Standing courtside as Mizzou practiced and scrimmaged Saturday morning, Ramsey received near-constant attention from MU assistants T.J. Cleveland and Melvin Watkins. He appeared to be enjoying himself at the time, and he said Sunday night that was the case.
"They have the style of play that I fit into. I think I could fit right in," he said.
Ramsey, a versatile frontcourt player who averaged 11.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, three assists, three steals and 1.7 blocks per game as a juco freshman, told InsideMizzou.com in late July that Missouri is his No. 1 choice. The visit, which also included the football game, an outing with Missouri's players and meetings with head coach Mike Anderson, did nothing to change that.
"It's a good city, nice people, I liked the team, everything," he said.
The staff didn't put on the hard sale, telling Ramsey to take his time making a decision. Next weekend he'll visit Arkansas, which seems to be Mizzou's only serious competition for his services. He said he hopes to have a decision sometime in the relatively near future. InsideMizzou.com will keep you posted …
