All In The Family

The genetics are certainly there, but the one big question remains. Will Martin Rucker follow his famous brother to Lincoln?

Martin gave HR an update on brother Mike, the former All-American defensive end for Nebraska.

"Mike is really doing great," Martin said. "He's playing defensive end for the Carolina Panthers and is currently tied for the league lead in sacks with six. I believe there are a lot of experts that are surprised with the start Carolina's gotten off to."

The six-foot-five, 215 lb Rucker, who plays both tight end and defensive end for Benton High School in Saint Joseph, was asked about his team's start.

"Not too good," Rucker said. "We're currently 1-3. I have 11 catches for around 200 yards with one touchdown on offense. At defensive end, I have around 20 tackles with two sacks and one fumble recovery."

So which side of the ball does Rucker prefer on the next level?

"I'm being recruited as a tight end," he said. "That's where I want to play."

Martin was asked about his visit schedule.

"I have an official visit scheduled for Missouri on December 6th and one to Nebraska on December 13th. I'm also considering a trip to Colorado State. This summer I attended the one day mini-camp at Missouri and both the Big Red Football Camp and Speed Camp at Nebraska."

Rucker, who is already a full-qualifier, carrying a 2.7 GPA and scoring 20 on the ACT, was asked if he had one school preference at the moment.

"I really don't," he said. "I want to make my visits first, then decide."
