Will Missouri Fan Backlash Affect Gabbert?

When he committed to Nebraska this past summer, Parkway West star Blaine Gabbert incurred the wrath of many Missourians who were upset he didn't pick Mizzou. InsideMizzou.com touched base with Gabbert Sunday night, one day after his visit to Missouri, and one of the topics of the conversation was whether that resentment will have any effect on him possibly switching his commitment from NU to MU…

"Not really. In the end, you have to worry about what's best for yourself, and you can't really worry about what anyone else thinks," said Gabbert, the No. 4 quarterback in the nation.

We also asked him if the commitment of Blue Springs South junior quarterback Saturday night will have any effect on his decision.

"No, not at all. You can't worry about what's behind you. I'm glad he committed. That's awesome," Gabbert said.

Gabbert watched the game with MU commit Andrew Jones, and spent the night afterward hanging out with Jones and MU quarterback Chase Daniel. Daniel's advise to Gabbert: "Just do what's best for you. Go somewhere that fits and things will fall into place."

Gabbert said he enjoyed the game thoroughly and has been impressed by Mizzou's strong season.

"They were definitely on the brink of being a dominant football team. They're there. The offense has always been clicking, and Chase, and now the defense is" playing well, he said.

Asked when he might make a decision, Gabbert said he's still a Nebraska commitment, and is waiting to see what happens with the embattled coaching staff there. Once he gets a better feel for that situation and finishes deliberating with his family, he'll decide whether to stick with NU or switch to MU.
