Gabbert Commits to Missouri

Initially Blaine Gabbert made a commitment to sign with and play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but after re-considering the commitment he has decided to go ahead become the 18th Missouri commitment.

To say it was a successful day for the Missouri Tigers would be an understatement. Not only did they successfully fend off an upset minded Texas A&M squad to keep their conference championship hopes alive, but they also reeled in a commitment from the state's top ranked player in quarterback Blaine Gabbert.

Gabbbert, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound monster from Parkway West High in Ballwin, Mo., is currently rated as the fourth overall quarterback in the country by is also recognized as the third best player in the Midland Region (Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota).

"If really love the place, you love the place. You can't make one year decide if you're gonna go there or not. It's funny how things work out," The five-star prospect said.

"I'm glad it's over now. It's just fun to now I'm coming here and it's over," he said. "it's nice to know where you're going next year and just settle down."

As a junior, Gabbert passed for 1,523 yards and 20 touchdowns (seven interceptions) and added an additional 458 yards and nine more scores on the ground to help lead his team to an 8-2 record and a trip to the playoffs; He benches 295 pounds, squats 285 and vertical jumps 33-inches.

Shortly in to his senior season Gabbert suffered a minor shoulder separation, but managed to complete 45 passes for over 600 yards and five touchdowns to go along with 218 yards and a score on the ground in the limited action. In the last game of the year he was not cleared to throw, but lined up at wide receiver.

Gabbert reports a 4.1 core GPA (with honors classes) and a 25 ACT.
