Freshly Inked Ramsey Off to Huge Start

Keith Ramsey may very well have been the biggest catch in Mizzou's six man 2008 recruiting class. The 6-foot-8 forward from Okaloosa-Walton Junior College (Fla.) made it official today by sending in his National Letter of Intent, and Inside Mizzou caught up with him to catch up…

"Yeah, I signed today," Ramsey said. "I didn't ever have any second thoughts, I knew that's where I wanted to go."

Ramsey hasn't been able to catch either of Mizzou's first two games because they weren't televised, but said he heard the team has been playing very good ball. He talks often with staff members and recently received a visit from assistant coach Melvin Watkins at one of his games.

"They said things are going really well and they beat a couple of good mid-major teams," Ramsey said.

So far, No. 9 Okaloosa-Walton is 3-1 and Ramsey is off to a huge start, averaging 15 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks, four assists and three steals per game. He's splitting time between the small forward and power forward positions.

"I'll probably play mostly the three [at Missouri]. I'm playing 38 minutes a game sometimes I have to play the four when our center is out of the game," he said.

Ramsey hasn't played with any of Missouri's players, but is familiar with DeMarre Carroll because Carroll played for Vanderbilt, located in Ramsey's native Tennessee. Told Carroll has been tearing it up so far, he said, "Yeah, I heard."

We also asked him what his goal is individually this season.

"There's always room to get better, but I'm worried about the team. We're trying to go to nationals," he said.
