Being a quarterback for your high school football team in Texas is a dream come true for many young men.
For Hereford's Parker Bridwell, it's the perfect position. He loves to throw the football, but loves to run it as well. That's why he is looking for a spread type offense that will meet both of his skills.
Bridwell, a 2010 prospect, threw for over 2,400 yards and 30 touchdowns against only six interceptions, he added another 540 yards rushing and 8 more scores. This performance his junior season earned him first team All-District honors.
Bridwell plans on going on several junior days this spring and several camps this summer, he will attend Texas A&M Junior Day this weekend.
"I will be going to Texas A&M for their junior day this Saturday," Bridwell told InsideMizzou.com Tuesday night. "There are several schools that I'm currently interested in."
What standouts to Bridwell about Missouri, the only out of state school on his interest list.
"I have always loved Missouri," Bridwell said. "Their offense is a perfect fit for me. I know they like recruiting Texas, I know that Chase Daniel played there."
Bridwell is listed at 6-foot-4, 185-pounds. According to the talented signal caller, he runs the forty yard dash in the 4.6 range.
"I love running the ball if needed," Bridwell said. "I feel that I have a strong arm and that I read defense really well."One in state school that Bridwell is familiar with is Southern Methodist University. "I went to the SMU vs. Tulsa football game," Bridwell said. "I really loved the campus and loved the coaching staff. I got a chance to meet June Jones, he really seems to be a great guy."
Where does Bridwell plan on attending summer camps at?
"Right now I would love to go to camp at Missouri, Texas Tech, SMU, and a couple of others," Bridwell said. "It all depends on who wants me to come and who is recruiting me the hardest at the time I decide."
Bridwell is a multi talented athlete, he also is a punter for his high school team and earned post season honors for his punting this past fall. Bridwell averaged over 40.0 yards per punt.
