Missouri picked up another pledge from a Texas athlete here Saturday evening, when Hitchcock defensive end Michael Sam made his decision.
"I got the offer today," Sam said. "I have been interested in Mizzou for a long time, and they have been recruiting me for a long time. I just didn't have my test score, that has changed, so now I'm a Tiger."
Sam enjoyed his tour of the campus and academic facilities and these things helped seal the deal.
"It's the perfect situation for me," Michael told InsideMizzou.com."It's one of the most successful football programs in the Big 12, I couldn't ask for anything more."
Sam plays for Class AAA Hitchcock High School, but still earned First team All Conference honors as well as First team on the All-Greater Houston squad.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound athlete, runs a 4.6 forty and can play defensive end or outside linebacker.
"Missouri is talking about me playing defensive end," Sam said. "I will leave tomorrow heading to Columbia, I'm very excited."
