Tigers pick up another home diamond win

Missouri improved to 6-1 at home this season with a 4-1 win over Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Wednesday night at Taylor Stadium. Trailing 1-0, the Tigers scored four runs between the third and fourth innings to pick up the victory.

SIUE (2-10) scored a run in the top of the first inning after the leadoff batter, Chilos Norris III, doubled and scored on a single by Josh Street.

Junior Michael Liberto and freshman Ryan Gebhart led off the bottom of the third inning with back-to-back singles for Missouri and Liberto scored when junior Greg Folgia hit into a fielder's choice, tying the game at one.

Mizzou (9-10) would take the lead after a three-run bottom of the fourth inning. Junior Aaron Senne drew a lead off walk in the fourth, followed by a single from junior Trevor Coleman. Junior Ryan Lollis then tripled down the leftfield line to drive in Senne and Coleman. Lollis would score on sacrifice fly by junior Kyle Mach for the third run in the inning.

Missouri used a total of 11 pitchers on the night in a planned staff effort. Junior Scooter Hicks pitched a scoreless fourth inning for the Tigers and picked up the win, his first of the season. Sophomore Brad Buehler pitched the ninth inning to record the first save of his career.

The Tigers will open a three-game series with Texas A&M this Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Taylor Stadium. Junior Kyle Gibson is slated to get the start for the Tigers in game one of this weekend's series.
