With Missouri's recent success on the basketball court, it has apparently caught several high school prospects' attention.
Add that along with currently having a cousin on this year's Mizzou's team and you have an Arkansas athlete that is very interested in the Tigers.
Preston Purifoy, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound shooting guard/small forward, from Conway Arkansas confirmed with InsideMizzou.com Monday night that he indeed is being recruited by the Missouri coaching staff.
Slowed by a surgery in the first half of his junior season, it apparently hasn't kept college coaches from recruiting the talented player.
"Right now I have an offer from Ole Miss," Purifoy said. "I attended their elite camp last summer and Coach Kennedy offered me. I'm really interested in Missouri; one of my cousins plays for them, Leo Lyons."
According to Purifoy, he has enjoyed watching and keeping up with his cousin and the Tigers.
"I watch them every chance I get," Purifoy said. "Coach Zimmerman is recruiting me. They tell me how much they want me to be a Tiger."
Does Purifoy have an offer yet?
"No, but it appears they are close to offering," Purifoy said. "They tell me every time I talk to them how interested they are in. The feelings are mutual; I have a lot of interest in Mizzou also."
Purifoy plans on attending summer camp in Columbia where he plans on taking a closer look at the University of Missouri.
"Right now Missouri is definitely one of my top schools," Purifoy said. "I plan on committing sometime by the end of the summer."
Purifoy is a 2010 prospect.
