The big question today will be whether Matt Hoch is ready to pull the trigger today and become a Mizzou Tiger. The impressive defensive end and younger brother of Tiger offensive lineman Dan Hoch will be in Columbia today for an unofficial visit. Is the timing right? Will Hoch become a member of the Tiger family today? InsideMizzou.com will keep you up to date on all the news. Here is a story we ran a couple of weeks ago about Hoch, just in case you missed it.
Big brothers are great to look up to; some little brothers strive to follow in their brother's footsteps while others want to journey out on their own.
Hoch's older brother Dan is a starting offensive lineman at the University of Missouri, if the younger brother chooses Mizzou he will not only get the chance to play on the same team as Dan but an opportunity to go one on one against the bigger sibling.
"I'm faster than he is," Matt said. "I would fly by him."
Dan spent spring break back home doing a little recruiting of his own.
"I worked on him pretty good," Dan told InsideMizzou.com. "It would be great to have him here at Missouri. To up against him in drills, to live together off campus, it would be great. I'm doing my best to get him here."
While Dan makes it no secret of wanting his brother to be a Tiger, the talented offensive lineman will be the first to tell you the final decision is up to Matt.
"The ultimate decision is his," Dan said. "It would be great to have him here, but he has to make the choice."
Matt realizes he is wanted at Missouri by his brother and the coaching staff.
"Dan loves it there," the younger Hoch said. "I know I won't go wrong if I choose to go to Columbia. It would be nice if I did, but I still have to make the final decision."
According to Matt, he is looking for coaches who he likes the most, and a place where he will get a quality education.
Those two factors may lead Hoch to Mizzou.
"The Missouri coaching staff is so friendly, they are already like family to me," Hoch said. "They are top notch, I love them."
The younger Hoch will camp at Missouri this summer and hopes to make a decision before the end of the summer.
Hoch did admit that if he chooses Missouri, there is one thing he will do differently.
"If I choose Missouri I will graduate early in December," Hoch said. "If not then I will wait and graduate in May."
