Tigers Beat Hawkeyes 88-82

The #16 Missouri Tigers travelled to the ever-hostile Carver-Hawkeye Arena to play their first true away game this season and survived with a six point victory. The game was in doubt until Ricky Clemons banked home his sixth 3-pointer to seal the win.

"Poise and character."

Those were the words head coach Quin Snyder chose to describe his team after a hard-fought road win at Iowa.

"We finished the game really well today, which we haven't done yet this year. I thought our kids showed more poise today," said Snyder.

It was the Ricky & Rickey show for Missouri.  Ricky Clemons had a game high 27 points, on a 5-11 shooting day from the field, and 6-11 from 3-point land.  Rickey Paulding also responded well scoring 17 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and getting to the free throw line nine times.

The maligned starting front court from Missouri combined for twenty rebounds vs. Iowa (Johnson 13, Bryant 7).  Johnson also contributed 16 points and three blocked shots.

Missouri improved to 8-1 on the young 2002-03 season, while Iowa dropped to 8-3 and 0-2 against Big 12 Conference opponents after losing to Iowa State in mid December.
