Key Matchups: Oklahoma State

Mizzou faces off against Oklahoma State tonight in a primetime matchup against the Cowboys. It is Oklahoma State's homecoming, and they will square off against the Tigers without their best player, Dez Bryant. For the players on the field, this will be a great matchup of two teams looking to avoid their second loss of the season.

Mizzou faces off against Oklahoma State tonight in a primetime matchup against the Cowboys. It is Oklahoma State's homecoming, and they will square off against the Tigers without their best player, Dez Bryant, who will miss the game and the rest of the season after being declared ineligible by the NCAA. For the players on the field, this will be a great matchup of two teams looking to avoid their second loss of the season.

Mizzou pass rushers vs. Oklahoma State offensive tackles

Mizzou has the three-headed monster of Brian Coulter, Aldon Smith, and Jacquies Smith manning the edges of the defensive line. To counter, Oklahoma State has a potential top 5 NFL Draft pick protecting Zac Robinson's blindside in Russel Okung. Brady Bond, a senior, starts at right tackle. Unless something drastic happens, Okung will seal the left side off and keep that pass rusher away. The place that Mizzou will have to get pressure from is against Bond. If Aldon Smith gets a lot of one on one matchups with him, his athleticism could cause problems for Robinson.

MLB Luke Lambert vs. RB Keith Toston

The Tigers run defense preformed admirably in the pouring rain against Nebraska. They face a similar test this week against Oklahoma State, although the Cowboys are without their top rusher from a season ago in Kendall Hunter. Toston has 410 yards on 72 carries this season, (5.7 avg) and had a dominating performance in his start against Texas A&M, going for 130 yards on 26 carries, along with 2 receptions for 74 yards. If the Tigers want to slow down the explosive Cowboys offense, it will have to start with containing Toston. QB Zac Robinson is not having a great year, so if Mizzou's defense (particularly Lambert) can slow the running game, it may put too much pressure on Robinson.

WR Danario Alexander vs. CB Perrish Cox

Tigers fans know what kind of impact a healthy Danario Alexander has on the offense. The senior has 447 yards on 35 receptions and 4 touchdowns in Mizou's 5 games. If he can put up another great performance against Oklahoma State, it will give the Tigers offense a boost that it needed last week in the rain. Cox has been a pretty good cornerback for an Oklahoma State defense that overall has been just OK.

Mizzou faces a tough task tonight going into Stillwater to face the 18th ranked Cowboys. If they don't pull out a victory, they could be staring a 3 game losing streak in the face with Texas coming into Columbia for homecoming next weekend.
