Smith Visit Firms Up Commitment

Missouri commit Xavier Smith made his official visit this past weekend and talks about it

Edmond, OK CB Xavier Smith 5'11" 175 lbs. 4.45 forty, 39" vertical, took his official visit to Missouri over the weekend, and talked with ShowMeMizzou about his visit.
Smith plans to move to Columbia June 1st, so he can get started working out with the team ASAP.  He talked about his visit.  "The visit went really good............ I just got a lot of questions answered.  The family atmosphere really stood out to me.  When I was with the players and the coaches, being there for the next four or five years, I really liked what I saw, and I liked how they made me feel."

Smith will be enrolling in a new major at Missouri, business and sports management.  He said, "Missouri was the best choice for me."

Xavier Smith and Missouri commit CB E.J. Gaines met at camps last summer, and have become "pretty close" friends, according to Smith.  "We both liked Missouri, even before we had scholarship offers.  We've been keeping in touch all along.  We were going to visit at the same time, but it didn't work out, because of my football banquet."

Talking about Corey Mosley and Dominique Jones from Midwest City, OK, Xavier Smith said that he had played against them, and that he "told Coach Henson that he thinks they would be an asset to the team."

Smith has been working with a trainer since the end of the season, and is trying to put on a few more pounds of muscle before he gets to Missouri. He said that Missouri strength and conditioning coach, Pat Ivey told him that he would likely play at around 192 lbs. once he develops in the program.
