Liberty, Missouri WR Marcus Lucas 6'5" 195 lbs. 4.55 forty, took his official visit to Missouri over the weekend, and committed to the Tigers on Saturday. Following his visit, he spoke with ShowMeMizzou about his visit and his commitment.
Lucas said of the visit, "It went well. It went really good. It was fun hanging out with players and other commits. Bud Sasser hung around with E.J. (Gaines), Keeston (Terry), and I. It was cool meeting him. The three of us (KC guys) knew each other from the past, so it was cool getting to know him."
Marcus talked about his decision to commit to Missouri. "Mizzou's always been close to my heart. Every time I get down there, it just feels like it's closer to family. It's something I've been praying about. I went into the visit not planning on committing this weekend. It was about me finding the right time for me, and I would know when I was ready. And, that's pretty much what happened. The coaches didn't pressure me or anything. I was just comfortable, and I found all the positives that I was looking for. I feel like Mizzou gives me everything I'm looking for."
Lucas said that while he and Tyler Gabbert have been pretty good friends since playing 7 on 7 together last year, and that he's friends with other Missouri commits, his decision to attend Missouri is independent of the decisions of the others.
Marcus has been selected to play in the Army All-American game in San Antonio, Texas on January 9th. He will join future teammate and Missouri commit, Nick Demien, and current OU commit Justin McCay, from the KC area, in San Antonio, beginning on January 3rd.
Lucas talked about what an honor it is to be selected to play in that game. "It's a pretty big deal for me, my mom, and my team. It's definitely an honor to be invited to the game."
Marcus Lucas plans on moving to Columbia in June.
