Following August knee surgery, freshman DT Marvin Foster 6'2" 270 lbs. has graduated from a red jersey to a red pullover at practice, meaning that he has been cleared to participate on a limited basis, primarily non-contact drills. Before he was injured, Foster had made an early positive impression. Recently, he took time to visit with ShowMeMizzou.
Foster talked about how he's doing. "(The knee) is coming along real good. Just taking it day by day............ I'll probably have the red jersey off by spring. There's really no point in taking it off right now."
Later, he said that he would have the red jersey off "for sure, by spring".
He said that the coaching staff wants him up to 280-285 lbs. before fall camp. He's said that he's "not sure" whether he'll play on the nose or the DT position, probably both. Last August, he was working at the DT position before he got hurt. He appears to be moving around pretty well.
Foster said that school was going well, after having had to adjust his study habits, coming from high school.
He talked about going to the Texas Bowl. "It's good, going back to Texas. I'm happy about it. I got a lot of family coming."
Foster reminds me a little of a young Ziggy Hood. We'll see if he develops a work ethic like Ziggy.
