Missouri commit DT Lucas Vincent 6'3" 275 4.9 forty, participated in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl held earlier this month in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Some observers at the event, which included top high school players from around the country, expressed the opinion that Vincent was the game's Defensive MVP. Recently, ShowMeMizzou caught up with Vincent, and he talked about the experience.
Based on his performance at the O-D Bowl, Vincent was elevated by Scout.com to a four-star rating. He talked about that. "I was pretty happy to see that. It was a little bit" of a pat on the back.
Vincent said that he "played a lot" in the game, and that he "had a lot of fun". He said that the level of competition was "kind of a little wake-up call, because it was the kind of people I'm going to be playing against for the next four years or so. It gave me a window into the future a little bit."
He elaborated. "These people are the same caliber of athletes as I am. It's not just another high school game. These are the top players in the nation."
I asked him if he had been able to just throw them out of the way, like he had done in high school. He replied, "Not all the time. I got mine in, too. But not 100% of the time."
Vincent won't turn 18 until April, and that is one of the factors that went into his decision to wait until June to come to Columbia. He's going to continue to attend high school this spring.
He said that he's "real pleased" with Mizzou's "real good" 2010 recruiting class, and is looking forward to his arrival at Mizzou
