Lucas Ready For Signing Day

We catch up with Marcus Lucas about the Army Bowl experience and more

Earlier this month, 2010 Missouri commit, WR Marcus Lucas 6'5"  190  4.55 Liberty MO, traveled to San Antonio to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.  Recently, ShowMeMizzou visited with Marcus about the AAA experience, and other things.

First, Lucas talked about the experience.  "It was really good, a great experience.  I got to meet the top athletes from all across the nation.  It was great competition during practice and also during the game.  I was happy that I got to contribute to the West victory."

Lucas described the reception he made during the game.  "The QB, Austin Hinder, was looking for me, which was a good thing.  We just made a good connection on a hitch route, and I got a couple of extra yards after it."

While it was just a single play, it served as something of a showcase for the talents of this promising prospect.  As he muscled his way inside of the smaller DB, Lucas reached up and snatched the ball out of the air, showing the ability to run down field while turning his hips and catching the ball in his hands, then displayed his strength and balance, running with the ball after the catch.  Run after catch is something I've seen Lucas do very well on multiple occasions.  He combines strength and elusiveness, to go with balance and power.

Marcus talked about another play which occurred during the game.  He had gotten behind the defense on a skinny post route, and the ball was thrown "down the middle".  Another West squad receiver jumped up and tipped the ball.  Marcus said that he "would have had it", had the ball not been tipped.

He said that he spent quite a bit of time with fellow Missouri commit Nick Demien and his long-time friend, Justin McCay, and also reported that the Army "treated us really good".

Marcus Lucas is a forward on the Liberty basketball team.  He said that "rebounding is probably his strong point", and that "overall, (his team) is doing pretty well".

He said that he feels real good about Missouri's 2010 recruiting class, and is looking forward to matriculating to Mizzou this June.
