Standard Impressed By Tigers at Junior Day

St. Louis Running Back talks about his visit to Tigers Junior day

Chaminade RB Rob Standard 5'10" 175lbs 4.52 had a monster junior year in 2009 rushing for 2,821 yards and 39 TDs on almost 400 carries. The talented running back earned mulitple post-season honors including Class 5  player of the year.

Standard was among many visitors to Missouri's junior day on Saturday and ShowMeMizzou.com caught up with him to get his reaction to the visit.

"I liked it a lot. It really showed me something about Mizzou." Standard said in the car on his way home from the event.

" Everything was great. The coaches, the facilities, everything was the best. It really improved my thoughts on the Tigers a lot. I was interested in them before, but I would say that it improved my interest in them from medium to high."

Rob talked about the basketball game and learning how Missouri has improved it's facilities and program under Coach Pinkel. He also was impressed by the number of St. Louis kids heading to Mizzou these days, and the St. Louis kids who came to the event.

" I saw a lot of familiar faces that I knew. I got to hang out with Anthony Pierson, Michael Scherer, who I played JFL ball with for Kirkwood, and I knew many other players from DeSmet and Hazelwood Central up there with me. That's important having St. Louis guys there."

Standard, who has an offer from Nebraska, spoke about the possibility of playing for the Tigers.

"We' ll see. The coaches will evaluate everyone and then in a week or so I may know about an offer. I do like the idea of playing for them. It's home. My brother goes to Missouri Valley just a little bit away from Columbia and my sister goes to Missouri Western. So it would be cool to play at Mizzou."

Rob said that he would be "attending Nebraska's junior day on Feb 27th" ,and would likely check out an Illinois junior day event as well.

Player Analysis: Rob Standard is a very good inside/out runner. He has great strength and runs hard between the tackles. He can move the pile despite his size and also has the ability to break a run outside for a big gain and the speed to take it to the house on long plays. Despite not having the ball thrown his way that often, he has good pass catching ability and can obvioulsy run well after the catch.
