ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Anthony about the Tigers and his decision minutes after it was made.
"I committed to Mizzou because I like the program a lot and they have a lot to offer."said Pierson. " I really started noticing them when JMac was there.I really admire him (Jeremy Maclin) and what the program has done lately."
Pierson's junior day visit led him to talk things over with his family this week and decide to pull the trigger on an early commitment.
"I had a really good junior day time. Every thing was good and I liked what I heard about the academics a lot. Those are what's most important. Plus it's close. I want to stay close to home for family and I want to major in sports management."
Anthony previously had taken a visit to Iowa's junior day and was scheduled to take one to Kansas State next month. K-State had extended an offer and Iowa told him that an offer would likely be coming.
During the 2009 season Anthony Pierson had 83 carries for 1,011 yards and 16 TDs for a 12.2 yards per carry average.
As a sophomore he ran the ball 176 times for 2,204 yards and 28 TDs averaging 12.5 yards per carry and was named the St. Louis Post-Dispatch sophomore of the year.
He becomes the Tigers fourth known commitment for the 2011 class.
Player Analysis: Anthony Pierson is a very speedy, quick twitch fiber athlete with great elusiveness, feet and vision who makes instant stop/start moves and accelerates to top speed in the blink of an eye. This is the reason he averaged over 12 yards per carry in the past two seasons. He is also a very good receiver and could play the slot or cornerback and maintain the ability to make big plays. He also brings excellent kick return skills to the equation as well.
