East Texas Athlete Talks Visit

Talented East Texas athlete talks about Tigers and his visit

On Saturday, 2011 ATH Tyler Boyd  5'10"  175  Daingerfield (TX) took an unofficial visit to  Missouri.  After he returned home, he spoke to ShowMeMizzou, and informed us about his visit to the Tigers.

"I am considering committing (to Missouri)," said Tyler Boyd.  "Yes sir.  I just felt at home.  It will really be a relief to know where I'm going when I do."

Boyd plays QB for his high school team, and plans to also play safety this fall.  He said of the Missouri coaches,  "They don't know (what position he'd play) right now.  They said they like what I do with the ball in my hands."

Boyd continued to talk about his visit to Missouri.  "I met (Blaine Gabbert).  I met Brad Smith, too.  That was an honor for me."

Daingerfield, Texas is a small town in east Texas, about 30 miles from Gilmer, Texas.  Boyd said that he knows both Tristen Holt and Braylon Webb, 2010 Missouri signees from Gilmer, against whom he has played each year.  He said, "They beat us the last two years."

Daingerfield (TX) head coach Barry Bowman had high praise for Tyler Boyd.

"I have one word to describe Tyler, and that is Warrior." said Bowman. "He makes things go around here.We are 30-2 the past two years with Tyler at QB. The only two games we've lost in that time have been to 3A champs Gilmer. He is such a competitive kid. I don't care if it's a game of checkers, he is going to beat you. That is just his nature."

I asked Coach Bowman what position colleges have been recruiting Tyler for.

"I would say slot receiver. He is just a playmaker. You want the ball in his hands and he will do the rest. He is football fast. I would say he is faster in pads then any track kid."

Coach Bowman informed me that besides Missouri, he also had an offer from Tulsa and that many other schools were interested, but that they just "have not pulled the trigger yet" on an offer.

Daingerfield has 6 division one prospects on their roster. Offensive Tackle Shayvion Hatten also had a Missouri offer but recently committed to TCU.
