On Saturday, while the Missouri Tigers held their first scrimmage of spring football, seven members of the Oklahoma City Millwood high school football team were on hand making an unofficial visit and watching the action.
Among those on the visit from Millwood was 2011 Athlete Kevonte Richardson 6'2" 190. Richardson, who plays QB for the Falcons and led them to an 11-2 season while throwing for over 2,000 yards and 23 TDs while rushing for over 600 more yards, picked up an offer from the Tigers over the weekend.
"I had a big smile on my face when I found out I had an offer." said Richardson. "I have been waiting for a long time to get an offer from Missouri. It's a good school with a great football program. This is exciting."
Richardson and 6 of his Millwood teammates, including another Missouri target, Josh Turner, drove up from Oklahoma on Friday night and while there checked out the campus and what things are like around Mizzou.
" It was very exciting." said Richardson of the trip to Columbia. "Getting to look at the campus and see things and hear about the good academics and see how college life can be like. We got to see the facilities and watch the scrimmage, which was a lot of fun. I liked the offense and the defense. Their defense looked really good."
" Missouri it number one with me right now. I am really happy to get this offer."
So does that mean a possible commit could be coming soon?
" I think I will wait a little while and think things over and see what happens. I cannot say when I may commit anywhere at the moment.I am just taking it all in right now."
Richardson did discuss the possibility of playing at Missouri and where he would like to play.
"They(The Tigers) said they could see me playing everywhere. Quarterback,Wide Receiver, Return man,Safety. They are recruiting me as an athlete and think I could help the team at several spots."
And where would he like to play?
"I want to most likely play Safety. I love to hit. I don't care if it's on offense, defense, just get me on a football field and I like being physical and hitting."
Richardson is a very talented athlete at Millwood. He also plays on the basketball team which recently one a state championship, and also participates in track in the 4x100.
Tiger fans can expect to hear more about Kevonte Richardson.
"I plan on coming up there for a camp at Missouri sometime later in the spring or summer and I will also visit there again."
