Will Nevada Big Visit Missouri?

Mike Peck is the Head Basketball Coach at Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada.  His roster is annually filled with D-1 recruits, with 17 out of 17 of his players over the past four years receiving D-1 scholarships, and currently on D-1 rosters.

Recently, he took time to visit with ShowMeMizzou regarding his player, 2010 PF Godwin Okonji 6'8" 220.

"Missouri has been pretty diligently and persistently recruiting (Okonji),"  said Coach Peck.  "He has one official visit left, and Missouri is really trying to vie for that last visit of his."

Okonji has already visited Texas Tech, TCU, Hawaii, and New Mexico.  He is considering a visit to Marquette, in addition to Missouri, for his final official visit.

Coach Peck described the 19 year-old native of Nigeria.  "He's a great defender.  Long arms.  Can guard two through five.  Rebounds it.  Runs the floor.  He's just got a great motor.  He's a program kid, does exactly what he's told, how he's told, when he's told............ He's got a very good (offensive) skill set for a guy his size that plays his position.  He's been a very good FT shooter for us.  He can step out and knock down a sixteen footer."

Missouri Assistant Coach Melvin Watkins is the primary recruiter on Okonji, and Coach Anderson recently went to see him in person.  Coach Peck reported that Okonji has been at Findlay Prep for the past three years, and that Okonji is a very good student.

"He's got probably six percent body fat," said Coach Peck.  "He's just chiseled.  He's got great shoulders, is really cut up.  He's got a great frame.  He'll just continue to get thicker............ He absolutely has untapped potential to get better."

If he decides to take his last visit to Missouri, that visit would probably take place after the middle of April.
