Tigers Offer East Coast DT

Tigers looking East for Defensive Tackle help in 2011 recruiting class

The Missouri Tigers are looking all around the country for defensive tackle help.

ShowMeMizzou.com has confirmed with Bear, Delaware Red Lion Christian Academy Head Coach Eric Day that his player, 2011 DT prospect Angelo Blackson  6'5"  290  4.8  has received a scholarship offer from the Missouri Tigers.  Red Lion is a small private school in Delaware that is likely to become a frequent stop for the top college football programs.  Coach Day said that Blackson is one of a number of high level prospects currently on his team.

"I think everybody that has visited (Red Lion)," said Coach Day, "and sees the kids we have, they're shocked."

Blackson currently holds offers from Auburn, and Tennessee, in addition to Missouri, and is receiving attention from a host of other schools, including Ohio State and USC.

"Angelo, besides his size," said Coach Day, "He's got exceptional speed for as big as he is.  He's quick.  He plays very aggressively.  He's just a young kid in playing football.  I think his upside is unbelievable!"

Blackson has already visited Auburn, who was the first to offer him, and currently lists the Auburn Tigers as his favorite.  The only thing he knows about Missouri is that he's seen them play on TV.

"I really don't know anything about (Missouri)," said Blackson.  "I've got to check them out."

Blackson played MLB and DE last season at 245 pounds, but has grown quite a bit since then.  He also plays basketball, and has recorded a 30" vertical jump.  He reports personal bests in the squat of 455 pounds and bench of 245 pounds.

He said that he doesn't plan on making a decision regarding his school choice anytime soon.  In fact, his recruitment is just getting started.
