Will Visit Lead To Commitment?

Athlete talks to ShowMeMizzou.com about Missouri offer and upcoming visit

Recently, ShowMeMizzou spoke with 2011 safety prospect Ian Simon 6'0" 175 4.42 Mansfield (TX) Legacy about his recruitment.

Simon reported holding offers from Air Force, Boise State, Duke, Washington State, Virginia, and Missouri. He's planning to take his first unofficial visit to Missouri on June 11. So far, he hasn't visited any other schools. He doesn't have any plans to visit any other schools at present, but is planning to camp at TCU. He said that they have shown a little interest in him.

Simon reported a 35" vertical jump and a maximum bench press of 275 pounds. He also plays RB for his high school team. He described himself as real physical, a good open field tackler, and a ball hawk.

"I'm a pretty aggressive safety," said Simon. "I do come downhill pretty good. I will say that."

Simon said that the Missouri coaches (Steckel and Odom) who came to watch him earlier this month told him they liked the way he came up and hit people.

Simon talked about his interest level in Missouri.

"As of right now, Missouri's number one on my list," said Simon.

I asked him if a commitment could be forthcoming.

"I've been thinking about that a lot lately," said Simon. "I've been doing my research on the campus and all that. I've been discussing it with my parents. If I really like what I see up there, and I really like the coaches, and like the people I'm going to be around, I'd go ahead and commit."

Simon is a good student, and said that he would like to attend law school.
