Louisiana NG Adds Mizzou Offer

Tigers looking for Defensive line help down in the Bayou State

ShowMeMizzou.com recently did a story on Rayville(LA) DT Gerrand Johnson, and in that story we told you about the Missouri Tigers offering him and a second Louisiana Defensive Tackle.

We spoke to Monroe (LA)Neville NG DeMarcus Hodge 6'1"300lbs the same day as Johnson. He received a Missouri offer around the same time and filled us in on his thoughts regarding the offer and the Tigers.

"I think it was yesterday after I got home from school that I found out about the offer from Missouri." said Hodge.

Hodge has been in contact with Coach Henson and Coach Kul and had a lot of good things to say about both Tiger coaches. He also has done some research on Missouri since he wasn't very familiar with them before the offer. One thing really stood out to him.

"I love their website We Are Mizzou."said Hodge. "I love that song when you go to the front page. That song is is really cool and I keep going there and listening to it. That site made a really big impression on me. I could find put a lot about the staff and the program there.. I also really like Coach Henson and Coach Kul."

Hodge, who reports offers from LSU, Tennessee, Arkansas,Texas A&M, Mississippi State,Ole Miss,TCU, Kansas and others, said that he would "like to make an official visit to Missouri" among his five when he was able since taking an unofficial visit would not be possible due to distance and his schedule.

"The biggest thing is academics for me in picking a school. Right now I would say that Arkansas, Tennessee, TCU and Mississippi State would be my favorites. The Missouri offer puts them in the mix."

DeMarcus described his strengths as a player as his his aggressiveness and being "first to come off the ball."

"Coaches like that about me and that I go low and hard, shoot my hands and my bull rush and aggressive play."

He self reports a forty time of 5.0 to go along with lift maxes of 315lb bench, 485lb squat and 370lb clean for which he holds the school record.

Hodge told me that his timetable for making a decision would be after his senior season and "after I make all my visits."
