"I Fell In Love With It"

Texas athlete talks recent visit and and possible decision coming soon

On Friday during Missouri's second team camp, 2011 safety prospect Ian Simon 6'0" 175 4.42 Mansfield (TX) Legacy was in attendance. After Simon returned home to the Dallas area on Saturday, he took part in a 7-on-7 tournament with his high school team, where he plays safety and running back. ShowMeMizzou spoke with Simon after he was finished with the 7-on-7 action for the day. He talked about his visit to Missouri.

"It was great! I loved it," said Simon. "I enjoyed everything about (Missouri), everything I saw. They took me inside the locker rooms, and introduced me to the players and the coaches. I just got a really great feel for the place, and I fell in love with it."

Simon has recently picked up offers from Colorado State and Louisiana Tech, in addition to his previously held offers from Air Force, Boise State, Duke, Washington State, Virginia, and Missouri.

He indicated that Missouri is still on top of his list, and that it's likely that he'll go ahead and claim Mizzou's final spot at his position in this class.

"Yes sir." said Simon, when I asked him if he was thinking about pulling the trigger. "I am. Probably within the next few days."

Simon talked about spending a little bit of time during his visit with Missouri junior safety Kenji Jackson and freshman tight end Eric Waters, each of whom are from his home town. He talked about having watched Jackson when he was younger, and related that he and Waters had previously played on the same team.

He said that he and his parents had "talked it over" on the way home, and that they also like Missouri for him.
