Killian Talks Tiger Camp

Talented in-state lineman talks about his camp experience and performance

The Missouri Tigers wrapped their camp season with the Team Camp Session II last weekend.

One of the top performers from that camp was Francis Howell OT Matt Killian 6'6" 290 5.0 forty whose Vikings team was there for three days to improve themselves for the coming season.

I spoke with Matt recently after his return from camp to get his impressions of how he did and about any possible interest from the Tigers in offering him a scholarship.

"I think that our team did really well at Mizzou camp.I thought it was very beneficial for us because we got to see our strong points and what we still need to work on in the pre-season." said Killian." It was also good for the team because we all became better friends and I think that will give us more trust in each other on the field."

And how did Killian feel about his personal performance at the camp?

"I think I did pretty well in the workouts with the linemen. The coaches had a very quick DE pass rushing us and I was the only one to block him at all. I never let him past me even once. I also think I was a bit faster in the drill where we were pull blocking. And when we were doing 1 on 1 drive blocking outside on the field with all of the linemen I did not lose one time."

Matt has really dedicated himself in the weight room for the first time recently since he has also played basketball during his high school career. The hard work has paid on in his physical development as he has increased his strength to go along with his good footwork and athleticism. He currently benches over 300lbs and squats over 550lbs.

I asked if he felt his time at the camp might have impressed the coaches.

"I did not get to talk to the coaches much the last day. I had to leave to take the ACT. I am not sure if they are looking at me for a possible offer but I hope so. I have been a Tiger fan all my life and I think Mizzou is a great school."

We will continue to keep you updated on Matt Killian's recruitment.
