Elite Camper Porter Likes Missouri

2011 Missouri bootheel standout discusses his camp experience and Tiger interest

One of the top performers at the recent Missouri Elite Camp, 2011 PF Otto Porter 6'8" 190 Sikeston (MO) Scott County Central, visited with ShowMeMizzou following his return home from Columbia. He talked about his camp experience.

"I enjoyed it a lot," said Porter. "It was a good experience.............It was fun."

Porter didn't come away with a Missouri offer, but intimated that "we talked about it."

"I'm very interested in (Missouri)," said Porter.

Porter indicated that he's going to be looking at other schools, and that he may not sign until next spring. Porter's high school team plays a fast paced, pressing style similar to Missouri's, and the Missouri camp gave him the opportunity to showcase his considerable abilities, especially his ability to defend on the perimeter, or at the top of Missouri's full court press.

"I know he likes Mizzou," said Porter's high school coach, Scott County Central's Kenyon Wright. "I know he likes the way they play, and Coach Anderson."

Porter currently holds offers from Missouri State and Southeast Missouri State, and is being recruited by Arkansas, Memphis, Mississippi, and Purdue, among others.

"He's a good kid, and works hard," continued Coach Wright, speaking of Porter. "During the season, we press a lot. He's never played the back of our press. He can definitely defend on the perimeter."

Coach Wright indicated that Porter has been working in the weight room.

"I'm just trying to get stronger," said Porter, who is also strong in the classroom.
