Simon's been playing on both sides of the ball for his team in 7-on-7 competition. He plays running back on offense, and safety on defense. He and his teammates will be participating in the state 7-on-7 tournament to be held in College Station this week.
Simon indicated that his school's team is pretty good, and he feels that they'll be good this fall too, when they put on the pads. He mentioned the aspirations he and his teammates have of advancing through the state play-offs this year.
In addition to the 7-on-7 action, Simon has been working out in the weight room, where he's been working on improving his speed and strength. He'll be retesting later this month at his high school, and he said that he expects to shave a little off of his forty time. He's also been receiving some individual instruction in the area of footwork and technique directed at improving his pass coverage skills.
Regarding his commitment status, Simon said, "I'm extremely strongly committed (to Missouri). I'm very pleased and happy with my decision (to attend Missouri)."
He said that he's been staying in touch with the Missouri coaches. And, he said that he and his parents have been discussing when they'll return to Missouri for his official visit this fall. He pointed out that his parents also "loved Missouri", and are pleased with his decision to attend Missouri.
Simon laughed as he talked about how several schools had "come out of nowhere" to begin recruiting him after he committed to Missouri, including Oklahoma and Mississippi, among others. He doesn't appear to be interested in receiving additional recruiting, and appears to me to be very solidly committed to Missouri.
