Leftwich informed us that he had just returned from Portland (OR), where he participated in the Nike sponsored National SPARQ Testing. He posted a combined score of 131.1, which was the third highest score nationally. He recorded a time of 4.43 seconds in the forty yard dash, a vertical jump of 40", a 20 yard shuttle time of 3.95 seconds, and a power ball toss of 34.5 feet.
"It was fun," said a smiling Leftwich, of his trip to Oregon. "It was nice. Lots of trees."
Leftwich, who will play both WR and CB this season, said that he's looking forward to his senior year at Hickman.
"Everybody's working hard," said Leftwich, of his Hickman teammates. "Everybody's up and ready. (We have) twenty-four seniors returning, and everybody's pretty excited about that."
Hickman Head Coach Jason Wright indicated that he plans to try to get the ball to Leftwich as often as possible this year. He cited Leftwich's speed and explosiveness, as well as his excellent hands, as some of Wesley's positives. He said that he's looking for Leftwich to finish off runs better, and to get a little stronger. He also talked about Leftwich's strong work ethic, detailing how he works tirelessly on every aspect of his game.
Leftwich is planning to graduate from high school in December, and will enroll early at Missouri in January.
