Vincent Working To Avoid Red-Shirt interviews Tiger freshman Defensive Tackle who is working hard to see the field this year

After a recent practice, ShowMeMizzou was able to speak with freshman DT Lucas Vincent 6'3" 288 4.89 forty.

The big guy has looked good in the early practices, and is positioning himself for a move up the depth chart. He talked about his early camp experiences.

"I feel like I'm learning a lot," said Vincent. "I've got a long way to go before I'm ready to get on the field. But, I'm absorbing it as it goes, and I think it's going pretty good right now."

Vincent has been listed with the fourth team at DT, and has been taking reps with the third team. Like every other player in camp, he's looking to move up the depth chart.

Vincent said that he feels that he did pretty well in school this summer, and said that he's making the adjustment to college life.

Vincent talked about how he did in the pre-camp testing.

"I put in a lot of work over the summer, so I'm making all of my times," said Vincent. "I got Big 12 standards on vertical and broad, the I-cone, the three-cone, whatever those are. I got Big 12 standard on all of those. I got seventeen reps at 225 pounds on the bench. My maximum bench press was 348 pounds."

Vincent talked about his goals for this season.

"I want to play," said Vincent. "Yes sir. I know I need to work on my hand work. Getting all of the moves. Getting better on the drills. Getting used to running in the knee braces. I feel real slow in them. I need to work on getting off the ball in the braces............ But, I feel that I can compete."
