Walker Challenging For Playing Time

Missouri junior has inserted himself into the mix for playing time this year

Junior Missouri Tiger safety Kenronte Walker 6'0" 207 4.6 36" vertical is challenging for a spot on Missouri's two-deep depth chart. He recently took time to visit with ShowMeMizzou, and talked about how camp was going.

"I've been coming out here, going hard," said Walker. "(I've) been getting a good run with the guys. (It's) been real competitive. Now, I'm getting used to it, getting comfortable with the team, learning the plays better. So, I'm getting a chance to get a shot out there with the ones and the twos."

Walker has shown really well during this fall camp. He's especially done well in the scrimmages, and during the live contact 11-on-11s. He talked about one of the earlier scrimmages.

"I was excited about the scrimmages," said Walker. "They were very live, very physical! It was a great time!"

Recently, Walker was moved up to the second team, and moved over to the strong safety from free safety. He talked about learning a new position, and some of the differences in the two safety positions.

"Everything's a challenge out here," said Walker. "It's just great!Everything's a challenge. I accept it. I'm here to play................ (At strong safety) You get more blocks from the offensive line. (You've got to) throw them off of you a little bit. It's just being a little more physical, and being tougher out on the field. And, there's different coverage responsibilities, depending on the (coverage) call."

Kenronte Walker is a physical defensive back who has clearly inserted himself right into the middle of the competition for playing time at safety this season. He seems determined to earn his way onto the field this year.
