Navy Spring Depth Chart Review: Raider OLB continues its post spring review of the Navy depth chart. Today we analyze the raider outside linebacker position. Veteran Keegan Wetzel is likely to start at this position while Jordan Drake, Obi Uzoma, and Paul Quessenberry all hope to earn playing time.

Raider Outside Linebacker
Starters: Keegan Wetzel #48 Sr.
Back ups: Jordan Drake #54 So.
Third String: Obi Uzoma #44 So.
Player to Watch: Paul Quessenberry. #45 So.
At the Raider outside linebacker position senior Keegan Wetzel (6-3, 218) won the starting job. He played in 11 games last year and started one. Keegan made six tackles, including a tackle for a loss. He earned the position with his solid play. Wetzel has good speed and understands the scheme. He made a tackle and recovered a fumble in the Blue & Gold game.

Backing Wetzel up is sophomore Jordan Drake. Jordan Drake, a 6-4, 220 pound outside linebacker, is from former quarterback Ricky Dobbs' hometown of Douglasville, Georgia. Drake is a diamond in the rough. He posted 19 sacks in his high school career. After his senior year Drake had no FBS offers because he was an undersized linebacker playing out of position at defensive end. He spent the summer and fall of 2010 practicing, training and playing football at the post-graduate Elite Performers Sports Academy in Fairburn while taking classes at Georgia Military Community College. The move paid dividends as Drake grew and has added nearly forty pounds since his high school days. That led to offer from Navy which he chose over a few other programs. Drake made four tackles and posted a sack in the spring game.

Obi Uzoma is a direct admit outside linebacker from North Carolina. Uzoma is a very good athlete with terrific size (6-3, 231) for a Navy outside linebacker. Uzoma has good speed and has run a 4.55 forty-yard dash. Uzoma flies around and can uncoil and make the big hit. He missed the spring game with a shoulder injury.

The player to watch is sophomore Paul Quessenberry. Quessenberry (6-2, 230) played defensive end at the Naval Academy Prep School in 2010. He led NAPS in sacks despite missing time and the Army Prep game with a shoulder injury. Quessenberry was converted to outside linebacker at Navy. He returned a fumble 70 yards for a touchdown in the first scrimmage this spring. Quessenberry made four tackles and recorded 1 1/2 sacks for the Gold team during the spring game. He is a natural pass rusher with an excellent takeoff and a burst off the snap. Top Stories
