Here is a hit list of what Reynolds did during this sensational season:
- Set an NCAA single-season record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with 29.
- Tied the FBS record for most rushing touchdowns against an FBS opponent with seven (San Diego State).
- Broke an almost 100 year old record for points scored by one player for the Mids with 176.
With six Independent schools this year, including powerhouses Notre Dame and BYU, it looked to be harder than ever for the Mids to place people on the All-Independent team. Reynolds, obviously, has his secured, but he is joined by offensive lineman Bradyn Heap, linebacker Cody Peterson, and safety Parrish Gaines. In addition honorable mention players come in the form of punter Pablo Beltran, cornerback Brendon Clements, linebacker Chris Johnson, kick returner Marcus Thomas, and offensive lineman Jake Zuzek.
One thing you notice immediately when looking at that list of names is that the Mids clearly have major contributors on all three units of the team. This is especially rewarding for the special teams guys who have been a big part of the Mids success in 2013 but who rarely get recognition. It also shows that the offensive line has been dominant and the Navy back seven has been making their mark, despite being undersized versus the competition.
It is always nice to see these teams represented with Navy guys and it is even sweeter when the Mids out-represent Army by almost two to one.
