Hammond: I'm a physical runner

Running back Bryan Hammond of The Colony High School (Denton County, Texas) signed with Navy on Wednesday, February 5th. Look inside quotes from Hammond.

"I was offered by Navy in week eight," said Bryan Hammond. "Unfortunately, that was the same week I tore my ACL. A week later is when I committed. I really like the head coach, the campus, and think they have a great team.

"I was recruited by Coach Yokitis to play A-back. I'm a physical runner with good speed. Right now I'm taking my time like the doctors told me, but I plan on being back to 100 percent by the time I arrive in Annapolis. I want to show out so next year, when I get to the academy, the coaches will know what I can do."

Hammond, 5-foot-11, 200-pounds, was a three-year starter for The Colony Cougars. Even though he missed the final three games of the season, Hammond rushed for 1,572 yards and was named first team all-State. He was also all-Academic in his district. Hammond's finest game in 2013 came against Liberty when he rushed for 294 yards on 18 carries with six touchdowns. He'll spend his first year at the Naval Academy Prep School.
