Sublette looking forward to Army-Navy

Kicker/Punter Casey Sublette of Mira Costa High School (Manhattan Beach, Calf.) signed with Navy on Wednesday, February 5th. Look inside quotes and photos from Sublette on National Signing Day.

"Going into the recruiting process, I never thought about going to a military academy," said Casey Sublette. "Air Force was the first to offer me, but after looking more at Navy and seeing the videos, I felt like Navy was the better fit for me. Gavin Jernigan is a really good fiend of mine. He's a punter at Navy and taught me everything I know about punting. He kind of acted as a recruiter and helped pull me in. They have a great football program with a lot of history and going to the academy will put me on a good career path. I can't wait to play in a bowl game and on the biggest stage there is, the Army-Navy game.

"I'll be spending my first year at NAPS. I want to be the starter. I'd like to be the guy that does everything with kickoffs, field goals, and punting. I like that it's like a redshirt year but you still get to play football. I'm going to use the year to continue to develop, work on my form and technique, and hit the weight room. I just took my official visit last weekend. I loved it. It was fantastic."

Sublette, 5-foot-11, 180-pounds, was a two-year starter at Mira Costa. As a senior, he was named first team all-League and all-Area. Sublette was named a top 12 kicker at the prestigious Chris Sailer Kicking Camp. Top Stories
