Pittman takes Navy offer seriously

When Navy visited Brentwood Academy in the Nashville area midweek, Jackson Pittman, a 6-foot-3, 303-pound offensive lineman, came away with his second offer. The versatile Pittman has played all positions on the offensive and defensive line for Brentwood Academy, but he says Navy likes him best at guard on offense.

"I had heard Navy was going to be coming by," Jackson Pittman told GoMids.com. "The coach sat down and looked at me and said 'first, let's get this out of the way, you're offered'. He said he loved what he saw from me on film and that he was impressed with what he saw when he came earlier to see me workout. He told me that he really wanted to offer me right then, but had to show my tape to the head coach before he could and the head coach Saw it and loved it.

"Navy is a great place to be for academics. The kind of place that will set you up for a lifetime. I've heard nothing but good things about the academics and the football program. Amos Mason, my former teammate who plays for Navy now, was telling me how great it is there. Navy has really opened my eyes to a lot of possibilities. It's definitely an offer I'm going to seriously consider. I'd like to tour the campus this summer or make it to a game in the fall."

The first offer to come Pittman's way was from Austin Peay. He's also being pursed by a number of schools including Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia Tech, Memphis, and Ole Miss.

"I think that Memphis is especially interested," Pittman said. "Ole Miss is too but they have a limited number of scholarships to offer this year.

"The number on thing for me is academics. The second would be seeing how well I'd fit in at the school. The third is whether or not I think my family will like it there when they come to see me play. I'd like to major in Engineering wherever I go."

As a junior, Pittman had 34 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and four sacks and was named first team All-Region on defense and offense. Both of his parents attended North Carolina State. His father, Jack, played defensive line for the Wolfpack.
