Tennessee star friends with Navy QB

Aaquil Anoor pulled the service academy trifecta when he was offered this week by the Naval Academy. Anoor, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound cornerback from Brentwood Academy in Nashville, Tenn. said it was a "special feeling" to have the three offers in his pocket. He sat down with GoMids.com with his recruiting season in full bloom.

"The Navy offer came Wednesday from Coach (Ashley) Ingram," Stevens said. "He said they liked a lot about my game such as my versatility, my footwork, my technique, and just my all-around play on the field.

"The offer had me really excited. I have some older friends of mine who went there and told me they enjoyed it. I'm anxious to go see the campus and get to know the coaches. I have a busy summer schedule, but I'm going to find the time to get up there. Keenan Reynolds is a good friend of mine. From working out with him, I've learned a lot about Navy."

Anoor said the Army offer came in a couple of weeks ago and that Air Force offered just last Monday. He also has offers from Furman and Tennessee State and is getting interest from Arkansas State, Duke, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Mercer, Western Kentucky, and Vanderbilt.

"I'm heading to a Nike Football Training Camp in Columbus this weekend," he said. "I'm planning on camping at Vandy, Western Kentucky, Kentucky, and Duke.

"First and foremost, I want to go to a college that will challenge me academically. I'd like to go to a place I feel like I'd fit in well. And I'd like have the brotherhood of a family with my teammates. As far as location, I have family everywhere, so that won't be a factor in my decision."

An All-Region performer in 2013, Anoor helped the Brentwood Academy Eagles to a 9-4 record. He says spring practice has him "really excited" about the coming year's prospects of a championship.

"We're going to be young, but good," he said. "First of all, we want to win state. I just want to go out and help in any way that I can and dominate in the secondary."
