"Oh, yes sir, I'm definitely interested in them," said North Gwinnett High School running back Kameron Pickett when asked if he's interested in playing for a service academy. Pickett, who runs a 4.48 forty and bench presses 315 pounds, hears often from both Army and Navy and is a wanted man by both team's head coaches.

Pickett says Army head coach Jeff Monken and Navy's Ken Niumatalolo both personally offered him. He hears regularly from both the head coaches and says he tweets with Niumatalolo on a regular basis.

Last season Pickett ran for over 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns. North Gwinnett's offense averaged 43 points per game. Pickett also can catch the ball as he made three scoring receptions.

You must be an excellent student to play at Army West Point or the Naval Academy and Pickett is strong in that area too. He has a 3.0 GPA and scored a solid 24 on the ACT.

As for the military aspect of the academies, Pickett said he had an Uncle who served in the Army but other than that he doesn't know that much about the military and isn't sure if he's willing to take that route but, again, he is willing to visit both schools.

"I haven't visited them yet but I'm planning on getting up there in the summertime," said Pickett.

Pickett, who was named All-Region after his junior season and six times was named to the Offensive Honor Roll, says he grew up following Alabama because his family lived in the Hoover area before moving to Georgia about five years ago. He says the schools recruiting him the hardest are Miami (Ohio) and Marshall, both of those have offered him.

Pickett also thinks he'll get an offer from Vanderbilt. Running back Coach Charles Bankins told Pickett that he just needs to see Pickett in person. Other schools that have offered Pickett include Air Force, Buffalo, Elon, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State and Southern Miss.

"A hard worker" was the way Pickett described himself as a player. He says he has no favorites, only that all the schools that have offered him are his favorites. Pickett is not sure when he'll commit but says he would like to do it before his senior season starts.

Pickett is on a roll as far as offers. Look for him to add some more of those before his senior season takes off.
