The National Anthem
The first of two fly-overs for today's game. This one happened after the National Anthem and featured 4 SNJ-5 TEXANs based out of Virginia and Maryland.
Navy's Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach, Dale Pehrson (L) and Defensive Line Coach, Shaun Nua (R) come onto the field before the team.
Navy's Captains, Keenan Reynolds (#19) and Bernie Sarra (#77), are escorted to the field for the coin toss. Prior to today's game, Reynolds had scored 73 career touchdowns (all rushing), the most in NCAA history by a quarterback and the most by any player in school history. Reynolds is just four rushing touchdowns behind record holder Montee Ball of Wisconsin and his 3,674 career rushing yards are the second most in school history.
The American Flags were brought into the game by seniors David Gordeuk (#92), Sean Reaver (#99), and Kikau Pescaia (#53).

A second fly-over happened just after the Mids took the field. This fly-over consisted of two F/A 18E's from the VFA-81 "SUN LINERS" and two F/A 18C's from the VFA-131 "WILDCATS" stationed out of Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach. The fly-over featured Naval Academy grads Lt. Cmdr. Adam Bryan, USNA '05, Lt. Cmdr. Patrick Bookey, USNA '03, Lt. Matt Davidson, USNA '10, and Lt. Mary Ruttum, USNA '10. Ruttum is an Annapolis native and a former women's lacrosse player for the Mids.
The captains of both teams met for the coin toss. Navy won the toss, deferred, and chose to defend the South End Zone. Tulane Captains are (L-R) #20 (Nico Marley), #26 (Dontrell Hilliard), and #42 (Andrew DiRocco). Navy Captains are Keenan Reynolds (#19) and Bernie Sarra (#77).
In the opening play of the game, Tulane #15 (Ricky Preston) returned the fumbled kickoff 10 yards before being stopped by Navy's David Gordeuk (#92) and Toneo Gulley (#22) at the Tulane10.
Tulane pass is complete to #9 (Teddy Veal) but Navy's Lorentez Barbour wraps him up after 2 yards. A Tulane holding penalty negates the play and backs the Green Wave back to the Tulane5.
Tulane #3 (Sherman Badie) rushes for yardage but Navy's Will Anthony (#90) is quick to stop him for a gain of one yard to the Tulane6.
Navy's Quincy Adams (#5) stops Tulane #28 (Rob Kelley) after a gain of 4 yards to the Tulane10.
Tulane #25 (Josh Rounds) rushes for 8 yards but Navy's Daiquan Thomasson (#26) was able to keep him from getting the first down.
Green Wave #49 (Zachary Block) punts 32 yards to the 50 yard line but Navy's Calvin Cass Jr. (#20) is able to return 8 yards to allow Navy to start their drive at the Tulane42.
Navy's DeBrandon Sanders (#21) rushes for 5 yards before being tripped up by Tulane #17 (Parry Nickerson) at the Tulane36.

Navy's Demond Brown (#25) rushes for 8 yards before The Green Wave #54 (Quinlan Carroll) stops him at the Tulane9.

In the final play of the quarter, Navy's Keenan Reynolds (#19) is sacked by Tulane #20 (Nico Marley) for a loss of 12 yards to the Navy5. Score at the end of the first quarter: Navy 7, Tulane 0.
Navy's Alex Barta (#80) punts 36 yards to the 50 yard line, but after a Green Wave holding penalty, Tulane begins their drive at their own 40.
Tulane pass is complete to #9 (Teddy Veal), who is able to gain 26 yards before he's stopped by Navy's Lorentez Barbour (#2) with an assist by Elijah Merchant (#14) at the Navy35.

Tulane is forced to punt, but Navy is in the same position four plays later and Alex Barta (Navy #80) gets 39 yards on his punt back to the Green Wave. Tulane begins on their own 21.
Tulane #12 (Tanner Lee) completes a number of passes to move the Green Wave down the field in the waning minutes of the first half. Working hard to move the ball into the end zone, he misses on the last three passes of the half and Tulane is forced to attempt a field goal as time expires.
Tulane's #36 (Trevor Simms) attempts a 49 yard field goal, which misses wide right and ends the half. Score at the end of the first half: Navy 10, Tulane 7.
