Star lineman Tobe Okafor commits to Navy

The Navy Midshipmen added another commit to their 2016 class when Central Catholic (OR) 3-star offensive lineman Tobe Okafor announced on Tuesday he was heading east to continue his education.

Tobe Okafor announced his commitment to Navy by tweeting a message that included the following: 

"The road has been long, shaky, frustrating, but ultimately a blessing.  I am proud to announce that I have committed to the United States Naval Academy!!!"

Okafor is a huge pickup for the Midshipmen.   He had power 5 conference offers from several schools including California, Oregon State, Washington State. Nevada,  BYU, Air Force, Army and UC-Davis also offered. rates the Portland, Oregon native as the No. 5 offensive guard prospect in the West Region.  According to recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman, Okafor is a versatile lineman who has the ability to play on either the offensive or defensive lines.  

The commitment of Okafor brings the total number of known Navy commits to 30.  The Midshipmen staff normally sign around 50 every year.
