USF holds off furious Navy rally

Despite a furious second-half rally, Navy fell to South Florida 52-45 on Friday night in Tampa, Fla.

Falling behind 42-14 at halftime, the No. 22 Midshipmen outscored the South Florida Bulls 31-10 in the second half but a fourth quarter 16-yard scoring run by D'Ernest Johnson eventually proved to be the difference in the game.  Both teams piled up over 600 yards of offense.  Navy quarter Will Worth scored four touchdowns during the game and passed for another score to Darryl Bonner as time expired in the contest.  The loss dropped Navy to 5-2 (4-1 AAC).
